Hydrocolloid
Allrounder
Our hydrocolloid supply is soft, flexible and reliable – for a comfortable and safe application.
What is Hydrocolloid?
Hydrocolloids are mainly derived from natural ingredients such as cellulose, gelatine and pectin. Hydrocolloid tends to form a gel when combined with liquids which are resorbed through the skin. This gel provides the necessary adhesive strength for an ostomy appliance.
Why choose hydrocolloid products?
Hydrocolloids has been used as a wound dressing for many years due to their healing and absorbent properties and are also used extensively in stoma care for baseplates and accessories (e.g. skin protection rings).
Hydrocolloid adheres to the skin by absorbing heat and moisture. This moisturising effect allows the base plate to swell slightly and ensures good adhesion to the skin – this prevents leakage and skin irritation and accelerates skin healing.
Our STOMOCUR® portfolio includes two types of hydrocolloids
STOMOCUR® Standard Hydrocolloid
- 0,6 mm material thickness
- Soft non-woven cover on both sides
- Creates an optimal seal around the stoma
- Available across the range on flat pouches
STOMOCUR® Combiflange Hydrocolloid
- 1 mm material thickness
- Two hydrocolloid layers bonded together ensure even better absorption of the exudating skin, as well as an optimal seal around the stoma
- Thin, tapered border: ensuring a good secure fit even on uneven skin and provides great flexibility
- Ideal for particularly long periods of wearing or for intensive everyday activities
- 10-times higher adhesive strength compared to Standard Hydrocolloid
- Soft non-woven cover on both sides
- Available across the range in a variety of one-piece convex products, flat urostomy pouches as well as two-piece convex and flat baseplates
