What does incontinence mean?
Incontinence is the inability to hold back urine or faeces voluntarily or to pass it in a controlled manner. This results in the involuntary loss of urine (urinary incontinence) or faeces (faecal incontinence). The causes are varied: they range from a weakening of the pelvic floor muscles and connective tissue to inflammation of the urinary tract and bladder stones through to neurological diseases.
The urinary tract
The urinary tract is the organ system responsible for the formation, storage and excretion of urine. Blood is filtered in the kidneys to form urine. The urine then passes through the ureters into the bladder, where it is stored until it is excreted. Bladder emptying (continence) is controlled by a complex interplay between the sphincter muscles and the central nervous system. During micturition, urine is finally expelled from the body via the urethra.
Bed and leg bags
Whether for long-term use, mobile use for ISC or an undisturbed night's sleep - the KONTICUR® range offers a diverse selection of leg and bed bags for every life situation. The bags are available both sterile and non-sterile, with or without a drain valve and in different tube lengths for optimum connection to condom urinals or catheters.
Condom urinals
Our range includes three lengths and four different diameters – for an optimal and secure fit. All condom urinals are made of 100% silicone, are ready to use and have a skin-friendly adhesive. An integrated kink protection reliably prevents urine backflow, while the transparent material allows you to check the condition of the skin.
Catheter
Our catheter portfolio offers a large selection of disposable catheters for intermittent self-catheterisation in women and men as well as a balloon catheter. The catheters are available with a gel or hydrophilic coating, are DHEP-free and are designed to be particularly user-friendly - for greater safety and comfort in everyday life.
